Cumberland Island
Dungeness Ruins
Cumberland Island Beach.Today we went on a boat trip to Cumberland Island, we went about 18 months ago, and had such a great day we went again.
Two of America's richest family have owned property there and lived there, the Carnegie family and Rockefeller family. There are wild horse all over the Island, and if I was a good swimmer the next stop east would be Home www.nps.gov/cuis/
We arrived at George V camp ground, Georgia, at about 2.50 pm. on Monday, after a tearful fare well when we left Peace River T.T. We left around 9.30am that same day. Lee & Judy (& Nicky) came up from the Florida Keys on Saturday, and were there to see us off, and Bob came to wave us of too. Will miss them all..........
We did around 280 miles to get here, on the diesel we put in the RV back in October last year. Mind you, its a lot cheaper here in Georgia than it was in Florida. We have seen $2.63 per gallon, just outside the campground. I have just looked in Jim's journal and we paid $2.49 back in October. Looking back further, to May last year, we paid $2.86 a gallon. Gas is a different story, its still around $3. a gallon, much the same as Florida when we left yesterday, but I did see one station at $2.89. Still better then $7.50 per gallon if we where in England.
