We are in the UK....

We got home, and all is well. The grandchildren were glad to see us and thought Jim looked funny with his long hair. It will take some getting used to the cooler weather, its nice and sunny, but with a top temperature of only 45, its decidedly on the cool side.
The next 3 weeks or so we will be preoccupied with visiting and being visited by family and friends, so the entries may be on the slim side until our return Stateside.

Last week in the river.

This is my special place in Florida, and this year I got to share it with lots of new friends. And one not so friendly............

We got to see the Shuttle take off last night, around 7.40pm from right outside the RV, what a wonderful sight it was.

Our 2nd trip to the crystal Mine

We set off on Friday 13th (not a good day to swing a pick axe) for another fun packed day at the mine, 7 of us this time, 5 new miner's, with Lynn and I going for the second time . And it was just as much fun as the first time, just a little hotter, as it was well into the 80s. By 4.30 we were all done in, and headed for home.

Happy 6 Hours at our site

On Monday we had a bit of a do!!!!!. We thought that as we would be leaving for home soon, and many of the "Snow Birds" leave at the end of the month to go North, it would be nice to have a get together.
7 of the gang came over from from Tangelwood, and with 30 or so, from Peace River we had a lot of food and fun.

Our visit to Fort Drum Crystal Mine

Lynn and I set off to the crystal mine at Fort Drum on Friday, and what a great day we had. We set off from the camp ground around 10.00 am, and with me driving, we got to the mine about 11.30 am. With pick axe in one hand and hammer in the other, we attacked the rocks. I had to get Lynn to stop around 2.30pm for some water and a sandwich. After a short break we went back to work, finding some great crystal. We packed up the car at 4.30 to drive home, THEN I said to Lynn "did you get some of that coral?". "Where is that" she asked? and then she set off to get some, and as you can see from the photo she did get some, and more. So we put more rocks in the car and we left for Wauchula just after 5pm getting home around 7pm, Very sore and very dirty.
We plan another visit next week, we must be mad...........
