A Good day

Judy and I started the day with a surprise trip to the "Fish Foot spa".

Knowledge, Tropical Fish, How do I keep my Feet Happy?

We then went for Coffee and cake. When we got home Judy wanted to change back into her jeans, but, I know her surprise party guest's would soon be arriving, so I had to try and stop her from changing. I hope she had a good day? I did, having her here.

We all sang "happy birthday" cake too.

Emma played so well for Judy.

In Brugge.........(Not the film)

We set off for Bruge, Belgium, leaving Solihull at 6am, and made for the 10am ferry from Dover to Dunkirk, France. It was an enjoyable, if uneventful crossing, the main event being a huge breakfast enjoyed by the four of us. On arrival in Dunkirk, it was just a 50 something mile journey into Bruge. Our B and B was right in the centre of the city, and so once we had unloaded the car, Dick, our host directed us to the car parking, where we would leave the car during our stay.

This was our room in the B&B in Brugge, a must stay at, if you ever visit this beautiful city. http://www.conampere.be/ info@conampere.be this was my first stay in a B&B so was not sure what to expect. The owner Dick and his wife Tineke, could not have been more friendly and helpful during our stay. We ate breakfast on the roof terrace and sat out there in the evening too.

It was like looking at a picture post card, each turn of a corner brought out more "WOWS" and "Can you see that?"

So much cheese and only 3 days.......

Belgum is famous for it's Chocolate, Lace and Beer......... we sampled all.

We all had sore necks at the end of our stay.

Our stay was over too quickly, and soon it was time to load up the car for the drive home to Solihull. The previous two days had provided us with fantastic weather, but Thursday we woke to grey skies. and very much cooler temperatures. But as much of the day was to be spent in the car travelling, we didn't mind too much.

After a huge breakfast, we set off around 10am, intending to take a slow drive along the coast to Dunkirk. After our first stop however, we re-assessed our position. The wind had now picked up, and it was almost impossible to stand upright it was blowing so hard. So lunch on the beach was out. The consensus of opinion was that we make for Dunkirk, and maybe get an earlier ferry.
It was a pretty good job we did, as when we got on the ferry, the captain announced that as the weather conditions were not favourable, we may be delayed getting into Dover. As it was we were 15 minuets late leaving because of the weather. The crossing did indeed prove interesting, with the front of the boat lifting and dropping back down onto the water, causing huge spray. It was nigh on impossible to walk anywhere unaided, as the ship was rolling around so much. Jane went a very peculiar colour half way across, but managed to keep her dinner down.

We disembarked about an hour later than scheduled, completed customs without a hitch, and headed for home. Lots of heavy rain, tons of slow moving traffic. Welcome back to good old England........
