Carol concert in Torrevieja.

This has to be one of the best Nativity scenes I have ever seen. There was a lot of moving parts too, and runing water.

At 6pm we all has a good sing song. With a little help from the choir and a big brass band.

The church looked very festive with the lights trimming the front of the building.

There was a good crowd turned out for the mainly English run carol concert. The Mayor of Torrevieja was there too. This concert has been held every Christmas for 9 years now. They are hopeing to do something special for next year, their 10th.

This is the first night we were out atfer dark in a while, must be getting old.........

This morning we were woken by high winds, and cooler temperatures, so we decided to go for a drive to the market in Torre Pachec. about a 20 minute drive. When we got back home a neighbour called us outside to show us the front of our car........poor little thing, looked like a small yellow breasted chaffinch, though I am no expert, must have been blown into the grill when we were on the auto pista.

Jane just has to have a shovel in her hand.

This afternoon we went down to the beach for a walk. It was a gorgeous afternoon, warm and sunny. There were a few people in the water too, but a bit cool for us.

We spent about 2 hours there, me with the metal detector, Jim with a good book.

Its a fabulous beach, just 1km from our campground.

Going home for Christmas.

We were on line today and a pop up came up re:- flights to UK. So I had a look.

We got return flights Spain to Birmingham 20th Dec & Birmingham back to Spain on 1st Jan for 160 euros (about $220) for the two of us.

Our next door neighbours.

We have a very nice couple next door from Switzerland, but not sure why they need a caravan, motorhome, smart car & a Mercedes 4x4 SUV. ALL MATCHING. The caravan is a TABBERT Paganini

If you have time have a look at it, best looking caravan I have ever seen. The Motorhome is a RMB Rmb Silver star 840 HE. If you look at the top photo you can see they are laying down covers to put all the toys on ..........

Lo Monte.

This is the outdoor pool, not sure if it's heated. But there is a great indoor spa pool.

Only the 4th time we have put the awning up. Getting good at it now, only took 30 mins.

The inside is looking like home now, we both find it keep's the heat in, we have only had to put the fire on a few times, first thing in the morning.

All set up for 3 months........

Camping LO MONTE ¤¤¤ Pilar de la Horadada (Alicante, Spain) - Camping

We went to look at "Camping Lo Monte" today and was very impressed with the set up there. So impressed that we made a reservation, starting Monday. It is about 30miles from where we have been staying for the last 2 months.

Lo Monte has 3 pools , gym and spa, whose use is included in the price. We will be able to do a lot more walking into the townof Pilar de la Horadada and the beaches are on the Mediteranean where as we are on the shores off the Mar Menor here at La Manga. I think I have done the beach here to death with my metal detector, anyway. We were given the details of this campground by some German friends here, who are also moving there on Monday.

Benidorm

Some times you hear the name of a place you have never been too, and you get a picture in your mind of it. Some times its a nice picture and some times its not, but for some reason or another, you dont put your self out to go. Well today we woke up to rain, and Jim said, "lets go to Benidorm.........". Well Benidorm to me was not a place I have ever wanted to go. In the late 70s it was the place to go if you only wanted sun and beer all day. And stay in a high rise. Not my cup of tea. Anyway, we set off this morning, the rain stopped as we got there, so we parked the the car and set on off on foot to have a look round. We did not bother to take the camara, as we thought there would not be anything we wanted to take a picture of. WELL. The sun came out, and the beach was so clean and the old streets were very busy and alive. We had a great walk, and yes, there was still a few bars full of topless men drinking beer, but all in all it was not as bad as I had imanged. I have put a few old pictures, I found them on Google, below.

On the way home we drove the coast road, the N332, and the rain started again as we got to Torrevieja. By the time we got to San Pedro, about 15 km, the roads were under water. We made a decision to get off the coast road, and onto the auto pista, for the last few miles home.

This is the main road, the N 332 through the centre of San Pedro, it was like driving through a fast flowing river, and just a little worrying. There was just one road we had to do a "U" turn and find an alternate route, it was just too deep, and flowing too fast to risk going through. No pictures of that I'm afaraid, I was too busy looking for another way to go, and forgot the camara.
