Tony & Heathers New Home

2

We went with  Alan & Trudy over to their daughters new house, and to help do a bit of painting , door hanging, and my specialty, window cleaning. It is a beautiful home, and I’m sure they will be very happy there.  Plus its with-in walking distance of the beach.

This man was  amazing to watch, now I know what to do with all my ROCKS. They were all balanced on top of one another. No glue or any other substance was used. He can be found near the shops at Seaport Village.

Christmas Eve

old town xmas eve 014

Alan and Trudy, Mark and Chris and Jim &  I set off to Old Town State Park in San Diego. Jim and I visited 5 years ago. We spent a few hours walking around and going in to the old stores selling old fashioned sweets, doing  candle making,  & of course there had to be a ROCK SHOP. And many more, all types of stores selling and showing all manner of goods for sale.

Christmas Lights to music.

We saw this house tonight and it was amazing. We had to tune the radio to 107.5 and we could listen to the music in the car and watch the display.

There were many houses all lit up, so much hard work for others to see. People are so nice.

We said our goodbyes again today, this time to Bob and Julie, who we will be seeing again on Tuesday, as we will be joining them and other good friends for Christmas at Pio Pico, near San Diego. Barb and Dennis also left this morning. Sadly we wont be camping with them again, though we are meeting them for lunch tomorrow, as they are returning to TT Palm Springs for Christmas.

Sunday walk in Down Town Palm Springs.

A night visit to THE LIVING DESERT

The Living Desert - Zoo and Botanical Gardens - Our History - Palm Desert / Indian Wells - Coachella Valley, California,

Julie, Bob, Barb, Dennis Jim & I had a great visit to the Living Desert tonight. There were over 780,000 lights, in many displays. We got to see a show with some of the animals, and the large Train set had the boys all wishing they could play Train master.

The Carousel was so pretty.

The best Train set I have ever seen.

Thursday, December 17, 2009

We have now moved to Catalina Spa and RV Resort, in Desert Hot Springs. It is about 20 miles from TT Palm Springs, and in a much more peaceful setting. No noise from the nearby frequent trains, or the adjacent I 10 freeway. Heaven.
They have 5 pickle ball courts here, but sadly I (Jim) have been unable to play since we arrived, as I injured my back playing at TT on Monday. Hopefully I will get to play at least once before we leave next Tuesday.
The weather here continues to be glorious, with warm sunny days, and daytime temps now in the mid 70s. It does cool pretty quick once the sun sets, with night time lows in the mid 40's. I will take this weather any time over what we usually get at home in the UK this time of year.

Yesterday morning we had a visitor. A lady by the name of Linda, who acts as a "Park Greeter". What a great idea. She came into our motorhome, and gave us leaflets on the area, and told us of all the must see and do things, while in the area. So often when you visit a place for a short time you miss out on some great sights, or fail to visit some great location, simply because you didn't know. She tries to visit with every new arrival. More parks should take this on board I think.
So, we now have a long list of things we hope to do whilst here.

POW WOW

1

On Saturday, Jim, me,  Mark & Chris set off to the 13th  Annual Winter Gathering  Pow Wow. in Coachella, CA.

It was held by the Twenty Nine Palms Band Of Mission Indians, at the 29 Spotlight Casino.

There was Arts & Crafts and we enjoyed a great buffet lunch. Chris and I got some beads and we all got a T-shirt.

The dancers were very colorful and full of energy. Their ages ranged  from 1-90, but I just loved the little ones.
