We had a great day on Sunday. I got to see my girlfriend Chris, for the first time this winter, as she is still working up in Canada as a nurse. She jet's down when she can . Jim got to play some "pickellball" with the old gang. Then we all went out for lunch to Homer's. When we got back Mark, Chris Jim & I sat and started planning our trip to Alaska for next summer, a trip the 4 of us are so looking forward to.

A gift from a friend.

I was given this oil painting last week. it was done by my friend Jerry, she is so talented. We had to go and get a nice frame for it, and it now hangs in the RV.

Thanksgiving

Janie and I
Jim was so glad to see Pete again.

Back in Wauchula

To day we met up with an English couple, Ed and Eileen, who we first met last winter. They had just arrived in Florida, and were about to start traveling the US in their new RV. They have visited 38 states, and 3 provinces in Canada. They are only here for 1 year, so had to cram in as much as they could. They are shipping their motor home back to the UK later this month, although they will remain in Florida until mid January. They have a blog, ????????????? if anyone cares to take a look.No fixed abode

Jim was in "car Heaven" the other day, when our friend and neighbour, Ed took him for a ride in his Corvette.

Lovers Key

Sunday we had a wonderful day out at Lovers Key.

This is about the sixth time we have been to this State Park, $5 and long white beaches, and so many shells. Well worth a visit.

Vintage RV Show

We had a good time at the show. The" Tin Can Club" as they are known, were so friendly, and love to talk about there old RV's and trailers. There was a young man there of 25, and his Mum was telling me this was his 2nd old trailer he had restored. He found it covered by bushes and it had been there for 14 years. What amazed me he had got the BIG old fridge working again, all the furnishings he got from flea markets and antique shop's. And the old Airstream you can see was hand polished to get the shine and it took a year to do. And we moan when we have to spend 2 days doing our home.

The show was held in Koreshan State park, in Estero, on the US 41. The Koreshans were pioneers, who originally hailed from the Chicago area, and set up their settlement not long after the civil war. They had some very strange religious ideas, about the shape of the earth, and were in the main, celibate.

Vintage RV Show

Events for Koreshan State Historic Site » Florida State Parks

We hope to go to this on Saturday, if Jim's back is up to it. I thought I would put it on the Blog just in case any one was in the area.

Poor Jim !!!!

Well it's been 2 years almost to the day since Jim's BACK last went. I had just popped to the shop's on Thursday, and when I got back I could tell something was wrong, soon as I saw him. He said he had walked the rubbish to the dumpster and thought about washing the car. When he went to get up he couldn't move. (my goodness he only has to think about work now)..... We were going down to the Keys this weekend to see friends. Hope to see you soon Debbie & Richard. Hope he will be better for when we move up to Peace River. I will give you all plenty of warning so you can keep of the roads, if I have to drive this monster LOL.

A sad goodbye to Suzy Q.

Yesterday we drove up to Wauchula to see Suzy and wish her well in her new post at 3 Flags, in Wildwood. Suzy was one of the first of many people at Peace River that made us feel we were so welcome. A game of pickel ball with Suzy is so much fun, I can still hear her saying " O no Jimmy" and "O Bob" and stamping her feet. We also got to meet up with a few old friends, some who still work at the park, and some who were visiting. We will be back, with the RV, in about four weeks time.
Had to go look at the river, Jim had to stop me going in.

Back in USA

We are now back in Florida, and it's HOT. We left Irma, Alberta on Thursday, with very mixed feelings, part of us wanted to stay, but my bones wanted SUN & HEAT.

Our RV was in very good shape, no bugs inside thank goodness......outside was a mess and we spent a day washing her from top to bottom. Jim started her up, as she had been standing in the same spot since April, and she roared in to life first time. We ran the generator too, and all went as it was supposed too. We did have good friends, George & Hilary, looking after her for us. Plus they had a great meal waiting for us when we got back here.

Today we went to the beach at Boco Ratan water was 81f and a slight breeze made for a great day out.
Last night we had a call from Mark & Chris in Ottawa, telling us they will be leaving Canada on October 30th. Drive safe, but get here in double quick time. Looking forward to seeing you both.

Our time in Alberta

We had a wonderful time in Irma, we played some awesome card
games with Richard and Marlus. I think the boys may have won "just the one". I got to visit
the new Wal-Mart in Wainright, had a day shopping with Ruby, Ev and Marlus (and I did not get shoes). Got to visit with Chilli, I think he was glad to see me, or was it the apples I had for him? I would like to think he remembered me.

I got to carve my first pumpkin, and got to see Ruby in her new home. We got to spend Thanksgiving with most of the family, as they rented the Elks Hall for the day so we could all be together and have fun, we had loads of good food and drink, and we got to see a lot of the family we may never have had the time to visit with, in the short time we were there.

Not sure what the girls were laughing about but it may have had something to do with Carrie "cooking"??
