A Quick Update from the Ship.

Hi all. Long time no updates. You wouldn´t believe what it costs on the ship to go on line, so we have had to wait until we got here to the Azores. Its been a fabulouse crossing so far, the weather has been very kind to us, one rainy morning, ( Thursday) the previouse days we were round the pools in very warm temperatures, The pools temp is 94f constantly, too warm for Jim, but just right for me. There are 4 Hot Tubs, and a great water slide. The food is to die for, and the entertainment is first class. We have had comediens, singers, band/entertainers, and even had a hypnotist, where I volunteered to go on stage and be a 'Victim'. But more about that when I have more time. All in all its been a great week, and to top it all, I havn't been sea sick. Its either the wrist bands, the pills, or maybe Judy's prayers, as she told me she would pray every day for us to have good weather. Thanks Judy. Will write more when we get back to the UK.
Until then, take care everyone.

Judy & I.... Peace River 2008

We get ourselves in to such a state, when we have to say farewell to each other every year. And this year was no different....but we did win a water gauge this time from Lee & Judy, as Judy forgot to check the site after Lee moved the RV out. We were too busy crying and hugging each other, to worry about what Lee forgot to do.

A letter from Dan

Dear Jim & Jane,

I just wanted to say it was my total pleasure to meet you both. I have to thank you. I must tell you when I first got to Peace River I was not too excited. I had to leave my family and come here. The first morning I woke up here it was like 5:00 am. I thought i should go for a walk and figure this place out. So, here I am not knowing anything about the area or Florida. I am walking towards the boat landing and what do I see? (Beware Alligator may be Present) Now to a guy from IL, that is something I have never seen before. So i walked past that sign with Caution. Staying as far away from the water as i could but still be able to see in the water. And yep what did I see? Stumpy. Right then and there I knew I have had enough of the "peace river". So I promptly headed back away from the water. So now it is 1:00 in the afternoon and I still don't know what to do around here so I go for a walk again somewhat drawn to the area of row "C". I see a golf cart there and some bikes. I begin to wonder why anyone in there right mind would be near the water. I figured I will check it out, I thought if I saw the gator again I should be able to outrun someone down there. So here i go back towards the water. Looking into the water i see all these people in the water. First thought "What are those fools doing?" "Did they not see the sign?" (Gators present)

I never would have thought I would become one of those fools. I am so happy I did. Thank you Jane for teaching me what I was looking for. Those days where it got really rough missing my wife and kids the river became my focus. I indeed did receive a lot of "Peace" from Peace river. It really kept my mind on something else. Also, all the things I learned from the river, fossil and Jane. Thank you very much. I also would like to thank you for sharing your stories with me from this past season.

I wish you both the best of travels. I do hope again to see you both in my travels.

God bless

Dan

A sad farewell to Peace River.

Today we drove the "Tradewinds" out of Peace River. We both said this has been the best winter ever. I enjoyed every minute I spent in the river this year, with old friends and the many new friends I made. I worked out that there is about 300 "Peace River Old Fossilers" out there now. So to all you old fossilers, thank you for some of the best memories ever. And lets hope the river washes down some good "stuff" for next year, and that the Tampa Fossil Club leaves some things behind. Any of you Old Fossilers that read this blog, have a great summer, and get your reservations in for Peace River for next winter.
We are now parked at very good friends, George and Hillary's, where we will stay until our boat leaves Miami, for "Dear Old Blighty". We will be leaving the rig and car with them while we are away.

I was not sure how many people would turn up, as the water was very high and there's not many in the park now. But we had a great turn out for my last day with the Fossil Club.

This Snake gave Jim a fright as it ran passed him and under the RV today...........

The Chicken's

I am now Nana to 4 Chickens

Georgina was upset that I had not mentioned her chickens on my blog............. They all have names, Doris, and Princess Layer are the only two I can remember, and she tells me she has now started to get around 2-3 eggs a day. We have been told we will be hen sitting when we get home for 2 weeks, when they go on their vacation. ROAST CHICKEN FOR 1 2 3 4 days. Nice
The Hen House

We have a house guest

Buddy.
This is Buddy, he stayed the night with us when Chris & Mark went to pick Chris's daughter up from the air port last week and when they took her back a week later. He is staying again tonight as C & M have gone to Lazy Days to have some work done on the RV. He is so sweet and I think Jim likes having a dog around, but he is not quite a GSD (German Shepard Dog) .
