Albany.NY (The Big Egg)

We left Bob and Barbra's drive way on Monday, and what a wonderful visit we had with them. We rode the carousel we ate ice cream we had lots of laughs, and Jim & Bob had a Gin and tonic or two............ with all the wonderful food Barb made, Jim and I had a real rest. We all had a day in the Adirondack's and Lake Placid. We also visited Saratoga Springs, famous for its horse racing. What a lovely old city it is, we will visit that one again. Barb and I had a few hours shopping too.

We had to get two new batteries for the RV, Bob took Jim to the garage that looks after his RV, he fitted them for us and did a few other things. They were the original batteries so they did well.

Canada here we come.

As I said, we hit the road on Monday morning and decided to stay one more night in the US (Walmart's camp ground). So up early Tuesday, and head to the border. We crossed in to Canada with no fuss at all, and at the camp ground with a cuppa by 12 noon. Stayed there for just 3 nights, then on to Camping Alouette for a week. http://www.campingalouette.com/ which is were we are now.

We are awaiting for Richard and Marlus to arrive, then we will all sit down together and plan the next move.

Home for the weekend

We spent a very nice week in the Catskill Mountains last week, and are now up in the Adirondack Mountains for a week.
Today (Father's day), we are going for a cookout with some good friends, Bob and Barbara. We met them two years ago in Florida. Friends from Peace River will remember my mate Bob, who I would meet down the river to fossil most days. Well, he lives about 10 miles from the campground we are staying at here in New York State. So we called in yesterday to see them, and what a surprise they got.....I hope it was a nice one for them?
Its so nice to see inside one of the wonderful houses, we only get to drive passed them most of the time. Bob and Barbara have lived in theirs for 51 years and it is a lovely home.

Then surprise surprise, they invited us to bring our rig up to their house, and stay with them for the weekend. We had 30 amps, water, and he even has a dump station. They treated us like royalty, and took us on a great tour of the Adirondacks. What great friends they are.

Update on Joe..........we have talked to him a few times over the last week, and he sounds well and the hospital are pleased with the way his hand is healing.

Do not read on if your the sort of person that never watches horror films, or if you press the horn in the car when you see a bird in the road........





We were having a great day in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Then Georgina rang us from home(daughter no 2). She started to relay to us how she and her 3 children decided to make fairy cakes. Now you are thinking, how could fairy cakes be like a horror film.....read on if you dare. She had Emma,Nick and Joe sitting at the table with sugar, flour, eggs, butter, and the big bowl at hand. She was going to use the liquidiser, as she felt the mixer may have been a danger with Emma's long hair. She turned to help Emma get the sugar ready, and Joe put his hand into the liquidiser, and YES, Nick accidentally turned it ON....Emma (five & half) tells the tail better in her own words, when she called me the next day "Nana we were making fairy cakes and Joe put his hands in the liquidiser and Nick turned it on and there was BLOOD all over the place and it nearly cut Joe's thumb off and he had to go to hospital and have xrays and stitches and I cried and Dad helped me and Nick make the fairy cakes". This was all in one breath. I ask how Nick was, as I know he would have been so upset. To this Emma told me "he's ok now Nana he was upset, but Joe can use his hand a bit today and he and Nick are fighting and playing wrestling still" Today Georgina called, and on asking how Joe had slept, she said that he had gone right through the night, which is more than she and Dan had done. But then they didn't have the benefit of the morphine that Joe had..... Hopefully, Joe will make a full recovery. He has to return to the hospital on Friday, to have his dressings checked. It sounds like he was a very lucky little boy, as George thought he had lost his thumb.

A second visit to Atlantic City

Not quite Fremont Street, Las Vegas, but still very good. The water dances to the music, with lots of lights, very pretty. We had to go a second time as the photos Jim took never came out. I told him, HE must have done something wrong when he took them. He said it was the stupid cameras fault. He calls a lot of electronic things stupid........ I wait for the day our computer screams "get him away from me" .
Those of you out there, that have seen him with a hammer, a screw driver or worse a power operated tool in his hand, will know what I mean.
