about 5 or 6 miles from Valdez. There were thousands
of salmon trying to return to their spawning grounds
but were prevented from doing so by a gate. There
was a way through to the side, and up the fish ladder,
but it seemed to us that only a small percentage
managed to find their way through.

I have never seen so many fish in one place. There were literally thousands of them.
I found this hard to look at. I hope I never come back to this earth as a Salmon.

You are having such a great time I feel like I know just how you feel! ha! Wonder if you stopped at Glacier on way into Valdez? We stopped there and had a great time climbing around... about pea green with envy but way too happy for you all. Keep having fun and thanks for sharing! Hugs
That's amazing to see all those salmon...is kind of sad. =(
