Hi Folk's, "long time no blog". We have been on the farm for just under 3 weeks, with no way of getting on the Internet, not that we would have had much time to "compute". We got there on 8th June, and on the 12th June the Larson family and us, 18 in all, set off for a weekend at Turtle Lake, Saskatchewan. As we set off for the long weekend, we had a small "FIRE" ......
We found it as we were dumping in town, just before we all set off. We were very lucky as a hose pipe and plenty of water was on hand. On a closer look we found a 6 inch hole in the corner turn of the exhaust tail pipe. So the hot exhaust gasses were hitting the inside back of the RV. It was smoking and glowing red, seconds later it would have gone up for sure. We thought the weekend was over for us. BUT NO!!! Our hero Richard came to the rescue, and 4 hours later we were back on the road with the new tail pipe Richard made from a piece of exhaust pipe from an old school bus, and a bit of welding and a lot of prayers. The weekend was great. Ken had his Malibu ski boat, and the men went fishing both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Ken and Carrie both got a lot of water skiing in, the younger kids got a lot of fun being towed along sitting on the Eagle, a big blow up toy that they hang on to for dear life as they are pulled at great speed through the water. For the smaller ones there was a sandy beach for them to play on. A great location, great food, great company, and even the weather cooperated, with sunny skies and hot temperatures.

The rest of the time spent on the farm, Jim was helping Richard, or maybe just keeping him company, repairing fences, moving cattle, etc. ( they have had a long drought in Alberta, and there was not much greenery for the cows to eat) We also found the time to go to the Wainwright Rodeo, again care of Richard. He and Marlus really do spoil us when we are there.
Then a couple of days before we left, he serviced and repaired the motor home, car and generator. They really are the best people. If either of you are reading this, Thank you Thank you Thank you.
Thursday morning, June 25th was moving day. First we had to make a phone call. It was our granddaughter Grace's birthday. Then de-camp, drive into Irma, dump the tanks, and drive to R and M for the goodbyes. Marlus had lunch for us, so after eating, it was more hugs and tears, as we left to continue our great adventure, a short drive, about 110 miles or so, to LeDuc, and meet up with our good friends, Mark and Chris. More hugs, but no tears this time, and the rest of the day spent catching up on each others news. Chris prepared a great meal for us, which we ate while going over the route and planning of our trip north.
