Yorkshire with Mark & Chris

                                            Street entertainer in Whitby....he was very good.

                                 Jim and Chris in Runswick Bay. Similar village to
                                 Robin Hoods Bay, but less "touristy".
                                  I think I preferred Runswick.

                  This Mum and her chicks did a fast disappearing act.
                  I called the others to come and see them after  taking the picture,
                  but when they came to    see, mum and her babes were gone without a trace..

   This is Chris's favourite house. She says she will buy it when she wins the lottery....

                            We came across this vintage  car museum,
                             and just had to go and look around.
                             Our friends Alan and Trudy, from California,
                             would love to buy this Morris 1000
                             convertible, 1956 vintage I believe,
                            Sorry Alan, its not for sale.....at the
                             moment !!!!!!!!

The steam train arriving at Goathland Station, on its way from Whitby to Pickering.
 Goathland was where the British TV series "Heartbeat" was filmed.
 Goathland became Aidensfield for the series, based in the late 60's.
They still live on its TV fame even though there has been no TV series for about 10 years or more now.

                                      Rievaulx Abbey, near Helmsley, N.Yorkshire.
                                      Founded in 1132 by Cistercian Monks.

The Abbey was dissolved in 1538 by King Henry viii.

       He ordered all the buildings to be rendered uninhabitable.

           The site was given   to the Earl of Rutland, and then passed

to the Duncombe family.                                   

                         The girls are happy, they have shopped at the Lavender farm shop.

                        and Chris have been before, and we went last year
                        with our good friends from
                        Pennsylvania, Judy and Lee.

    We took a walk along part of the city walls. the pictures above and below are views along the way.

We also visited with some friends we met when we were in Spain over last winter, Will and Lynn. Unfortunately we forgot the camera, so no pictures.  They are working the summer months in a campground just outside of York, mainly park models and cabins. The park is well maintained, and looked beautiful, despite the dreadful weather that descended on us when we arrived. We did have some delicious home made scones and clotted cream from the campground cafe, made by Lynn.

We had a fabulous week away, great scenery, reasonably comfortable house, but in a great location, great company, and loads of fun. ......Oh, and the boys won the card game, Canasta, 6 games to nil.
